Anne Carter-Hargrove, the photographer and artist behind Cahoots Portraits, believes in portraits.
From the oil paintings hung in castles of royalty to the gawky school photos stuck on refrigerator doors, there is something about a portrait that offers you a glimpse of another that is invaluable. And there's something about a painted portrait that is even more affirming - it tells you that someone is loved enough that a considerable investment was made in remembering them forever in a beautiful way. A painting is different than a photograph - the texture, color palette and brushstrokes just say "heirloom"!
Anne's style combines a detailed painting of the features with a softer, more "painterly" working of the background and clothing, resulting in a beautiful depiction of the work of art that is your loved one.
Anne is a member of the Children and Family Photographers of America, and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. She is a frequent contributor to Corel Painter Magazine, is an instructor at the Digital Art Academy, and is a moderator at the Digital Art Studio - Paint Outside the Frame.
